Biomethane

By December 2023, we will build 1 plant connected to the SNAM network, while 3 others are under development

Companies involved

Our goal

We envisioned the recovery of waste materials from agroindustry, with closure of the production cycle for biomethane production. The project is located within the agribusiness district of Foggia, with a production capacity of 490 SMC/H. The plant will use only by-products and processing waste from neighboring food industries. This is to complete a closed-loop supply chain for sustainable biomethane production.

Why Biomethane

Biomethane is a gas derived from biogas, which has undergone a refining and purification process, called upgrading, whose methane CH4 concentration exceeds 98 percent. It has characteristics and conditions of use corresponding to those of methane gas and is suitable for injection into the natural gas network. The biogas, which has been desulfurized and dehumidified, undergoes a purification process to separate the methane from the other gases that make up the biogas mixture. The resulting biomethane can be used, marketed and transported, in gaseous or liquefied form, in the same way as natural gas. The benefits of biomethane: Programmable renewable source; Reduction of import dependence; Local economy development; Environmental sustainability; Perfect example of circular economy; Reduction of emissions and greenhouse effect; Maximum flexibility.
